Level of Award:
National NFQ Level 5 or European Framework of Qualifications (EQF) Level 4.
This module aims to provide the learner with and introduction to the theory and practice of child development from 0-6 years. The component aims to promote good practice, equality of opportunity and respect for diversity in lifestyles, religion and culture in early years care.
Learners will be required to complete a Pre-Assessment test in our centre to determine their academic level, unless they have QQI Level 4 Major Award or a previous Level 5 Component Award qualification.
Our training is delivered in a learner-centred, friendly and relaxed learning environment to ensure each learner is given every opportunity to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities in order to succeed in their caring role. Sessions are delivered using a variety of methodologies involving class tuition, group discussions, role plays, skills demonstrations and simulated situations.
Section 1: Theory of Development – Influence of family, social and environment factors.
Section 2: Applying Theory to Practice – document developmental progress – suitable play activities.
Collection of Work 40%, Assignment 30%, Examination 30%.
Following successful completion, the learner will be awarded the QQI Level 5 Component Certificate in Child Development 5N1764.
Learners who successfully complete this module may use this level 5 component certificate as credit towards the following QQI Major Award: Level 5 Community Health Services 5M4468 or Healthcare Support 5M4339. This is an elective component which is highly sought after by healthcare employers.
